Make Great Coffee

The Bean
• Start with the freshest, gourmet whole bean coffee, not ground coffee.
• Create enticing new flavors by blending your favorite coffees.

The Grind

• To ensure freshness, grind the beans just before brewing if you have a grinder at home. Otherwise, grind them at the store
• Use the proper grind for your coffee brewer. Use a coarse grind for percolators, a medium grind for plunger or drip brewing methods, and a fine grind for espressso makers.
• Grind only the beans you need. Ground coffee starts to lose its full, rich flavor in about one week.

The Brew

• The type of brewer you use can greatly enhance the flavor of your coffee. Drip coffee makers are the most popular, and when used properly, produce a flavorful cup of coffee. For an even richer taste, experiment with other types of brewing. For example, the plunger method adds a heavier body to the richness of the coffee. And, for delicious, dark-roasted flavor, you can use an espresso maker.
• Measure accurately. Start with two tablespoons of ground coffee per 6-oz. cup of water and experiment with variations to achieve the strength that is right for you.
• Good tasting water enhances the rich flavor of the coffee. If your water has an unpleasant taste, you may consider purchasing bottled water.
• Remove and discard coffee grounds immediately after brewing to prevent bitterness in your next pot.
• Give each fresh pot of coffee a quick stir to insure consistent flavor.

The Pour & Store

• For maximum flavor and aroma, serve your gourmet coffee promptly after brewing.
• Store your coffee beans in a dry, airtight container in the refrigerator to keep it as fresh as the day it was roasted.
