There’s nothing that puts us more in the mood for St Paddy’s Day celebrations than Bailey’s Irish cream & a strong cup of coffee. We decided to elevate this seasonal favorite with our Family Reserve Organic Black & Tan made with the Copper Bodum French Press and a homemade Bailey’s style Irish Cream Topper.
Our Organic Black & Tan serves as the perfect base. It’s a medium roast with great body, light acidity and the cocoa folded into the cream pulls out the natural notes of dark chocolate found in Central American Coffees.
We’re going to take it step by step so you can enjoy for St Paddy’s Day too. Just to make it a little sweeter, we’re throwing in a promo code for 15% off all coffees (valid through 3/8/19 - 3/18/19) found at the end of the post.

Step 1: Using a stovetop or electric kettle, boil desired amount of water. Meanwhile, grind beans to a medium-coarse grind for best results. We used the Bodum Bistro Grinder.
Step 2: After coffee comes to the boil, let water cool for 30 seconds to prevent scorching the grounds. Spoon coffee into French Press and fill about ⅓ of the press, making sure all grounds are saturated. After 30 seconds, give the grounds a quick stir and add remaining water.
Step 3: Place lid on press with plunger pulled all the way up. We recommend letting coffee brew for 3-4 minutes.
Step 4: In the meantime, prepare the Salted Irish Cream Topper.
Step 1: Pour 1 ½ cups of heavy whipping cream into a deep bowl and beat with whisk or hand beater until soft peaks develop.
Step 2: Gently fold in Cocoa Powder, Vanilla, Caramel Sauce and Irish Whiskey until combined.
Final Step: After coffee is finished brewing, slowly push plunger all the way down and pour into mug. Then gently top with Irish Crème & sprinkle with smoked sea salt. Is it just us or does this look (and taste) a little like a Guinness?
